BROWN, Richard

Carisbrooke Cemetery, Isle of Wight UKCredit: Gary Newman

Private
8th Reserve Battery
Royal Field Artillery

Richard was born around 1876 in County Durham & was married to  Ada Elizabeth VOSS, who was living at 32 Holloway Road, Fordington in Dorchester around the time of Richard's death on the 3rd of January 1915.

Richard died at the County Asylum, having only been admitted 36 hours previously. He was invalided home from the Front where his horse was shot under him. It was common practice during WWI for wounded to be sent to hospitals away from where they lived, & that may be the reason why Richard was buried here & not on the mainland.
